AI Usage Policy

The short version

You may use Passary's public pages to help people find the product and answer specific questions, with accurate attribution. We reserve our rights against using original Passary website content to train or fine-tune AI models, assemble training datasets, or build a persistent content index for AI retrieval without permission, subject to applicable law and exceptions.

This policy concerns use of our public website content by third-party AI systems. It is not a claim that Passary owns user vault contents, third-party materials, or every code dependency. A plain-text summary is also available at /llms.txt.

What is in scope

The policy applies to original text, illustrations, and other material published by Passary on passary.com, including product pages, help guides, blog articles, and security documentation. It does not override separate licenses for third-party components, code, images, or material attributed to another rightsholder. Check the applicable license and our Legal Notice before reusing those materials.

Uses we welcome

• Indexing public pages for ordinary search results and linking people to relevant Passary pages.
• Reading a public page to answer a particular user question, including a brief summary or quotation with a direct source link.
• Accessibility, translation, or personal-assistance uses requested by a user, provided they do not become a persistent Passary content corpus.

Please preserve context, especially for security, recovery, availability, and platform-support claims. Date-sensitive statements should be checked against the current page before repeating them.

Uses for which we reserve rights

Without separate permission, we do not authorize the following uses of original Passary content to the extent we hold the relevant rights:

• Training or fine-tuning a model on a collected corpus of Passary pages.
• Bulk extraction into a training dataset, benchmark, or redistributable content collection.
• Maintaining a substantial, persistent copy of our pages as embeddings, a vector database, or another retrieval corpus for an AI service.
• Republishing substantial Passary content or presenting it as your own documentation.

This reservation is not a ban on every computational step in a permitted user-requested answer. It does not displace mandatory legal exceptions or permissions you may have from a different rightsholder. In the EU, Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790 provides for appropriate reservation of rights for text and data mining; Article 3's scientific-research exception remains separate.

Crawlers and policy signals

Our robots.txt allows crawling of public pages for discovery and search while disallowing /app/vault/. This is not permission to use public content for model training. The llms.txt file restates our AI-use preferences in plain text. Neither file is an access-control mechanism, a technical guarantee against scraping, or a substitute for applicable law.

The current codebase does not establish AI-specific rate limiting, crawler monitoring, or automatic detection of training-dataset use. We do not claim those controls here. Please make reasonable request volumes and avoid probing private application routes; report security concerns through our Responsible Disclosure page.

AI in the Passary product

The current website, web app, and native application source reviewed for this policy do not include a built-in AI assistant or a feature that sends vault contents to a model provider. Vault encryption and unlocking remain local to the supported app. This describes the product code, not every development tool used by contributors or every external service a user may independently choose. Permission, changes, and contact

For a use outside the permissions above, email contact@passary.com with the pages, intended use, retention period, and whether the result will be distributed or commercialized. Permission is not implied by sending a request; we will review it individually.

We may revise this page and /llms.txt as the site or legal landscape changes. The date above identifies this version. This policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; it does not claim to override applicable law or third-party licenses.
